Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a fifth year​ teacher and current doctoral candidate student at Concordia Chicago. I am also an active member of ATPE (Association of Texas Professional Educators) working as a campus representative. I work in the Greater Southwest Houston area for Houston Independent School District.

The majority of my student population is Hispanic and African American.

My school is a Title I school. Due to the recent pandemic, our students took a major hit in their academics. I want to help my students get back to the basics of phonics and a love for learning!

My Project

These letter tiles will allow my students the opportunity to utilize hands on learning during their lessons. Over the years I have learned that when students are able to start of learning concretely, they are then able to take that concept and transcend it abstractly to improve their overall reading. The snacks will allow them an opportunity to enjoy a treat after a long day of learning. My students will be greatly appreciative of to all those who donate and invest in their learning this school year! Thank you for your support!
