My Students

I am proud to teach 10th grade English at my high school alma mater. This has been a true full-circle moment for me as I give back to the community that has shaped the woman and educator that I have become.

The majority of my students come from low-income households but that does not diminish their capacity for greatness.

Our school is well-known for its athleticism, creativity, and academics. Although we are located in the heart of the inner city, we are truly an unstoppaBULL community, and each year our students consistently overcome the odds and rise above expectations.

My goal as an educator is to ensure that I am able to foster and develop the flame within each of them as they embark on this new journey and prepare for adulthood. My classroom is their gateway to deeper knowledge, greater understanding, and a more fulfilled life!

My Project

We have officially passed the 4 week mark of the 2021-2022 school year and I am excited for what lies ahead for my amazing students. Although I did my part to create a warm and welcoming environment, I need your help to stock my classroom with the basics. It has become the norm for students to not have supplies for class. Whether it be due to financial issues (darn Covid) or because they simply "forgot" to pack them, I want to make sure each child has the tools necessary to be productive and successful in my class.

My students need highlighters, pens, notebooks, and other classroom necessities so that they are fully prepared to learn each day.

I also included a heater and it belongs FIRST on the list. Our classroom can get pretty nippy and, unfortunately, the thermostat can not be modified from within the room. This means we pack extra sweaters and jackets for the day, but at times it can be unbearably cold. Yes, unbearably cold in our beautiful classroom in MIAMI!
