Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school works to create an environment where all of our students can succeed. My students are creative, hardworking, and capable but often need extra support to help them reach their full potential. The majority of students in our school come from low-income households and greatly benefit from the resources we provide them with at school.

As a speech pathologist, the students on my caseload are all classified with speech and/or language impairments along with other classifications (Autism, ADHD, etc.) While I currently have 27 students, our caseload grows throughout each school year as more and more students are identified as needing our support.

I would love to create a classroom environment where they can feel comfortable, confident and successful!

My Project

My students are eager to learn and love hands-on activities as they really benefit from a multi sensory approach to learning. The iPad is an incredibly helpful resource. This can assist my students in engaging in a wider variety of interactive speech and language activities as we do not always have a classroom or space for our physical materials. The vocabulary games will be used so the students can have a more engaging and fun approach to their learning. Being able to move items around and have additional visual supports greatly assist in facilitating their understanding. Many students struggle with reading comprehension so having stories with accompanying pictures that they can work with is a great way to help improve upon their skills. These materials will be effective therapy tools for this school year and give my students a fun way to learn!
