This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A day in my classroom is filled with lots of laughter and learning. My students come in eager to find out what we will learn and are ready to jump right into our routine.
I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title I school.
My school is located in Boro Park Brooklyn. We have a diverse population of students mainly Non-English students. I teach in an integrated class setting with a co-teacher. Our class is composed of 25 students, 15 of whom are a mix of English Language Learners and Native English Speakers, and 10 Special Education students who receive different services mainly Speech. Although our class is integrated, you could not tell which students are which. Every student in our class is treated special in their own way. We create an environment that our students will enjoy working together and learning from each other.
My Project
Since the title of this project is Back To School Supplies, I need fadeless paper, borders, and folders to get my classroom looking vibrant and inviting for my new students. As a teacher I do not hesitate to get the things my students need, but it can be costly. I only get a very small stipend that does not take care of the materials that I need to get my classroom off to a great start. With your help I will be able to decorate my classroom as well as do some arts and crafts projects in the near future.
"You never get a second chance to make a first impression." Andrew Grant
With that said, I want to give my students a great impression of who I am.
When my students walk into our new home (our classroom) on the first day of school, I want them to feel invited, welcomed, safe and amazed how beautiful our classroom is. I want them to know that it will be a place where they will make new friends, learn and explore new things. Above all, I want them to be comfortable in their new environment.
