Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me provide students with access to a new year. I am asking for support to obtain: binders, erasers, sheet protectors, and a flashlight for our classroom's emergency kit. These materials will be used to support interactive social studies binders for middle school students. These materials will help my incoming 8th graders learn the importance of organizational and social studies skills as they pave their way as first-generation, lower SES, bilingual students of color.

Help me ensure that my students are off to a running start for this year, without their families having to worry about school supplies in these economic times.

These supplies will be used the entire year to directly support the learning and engagement of my students as they learn about local histories of the El Sereno area and learn about the different forms of community cultural capital (Yosso) present in their communities. Additionally, I am requesting a hand-crank flashlight/power bank to include in my LAUSD emergency backpack. Flashlights are not included in the pack. I am hoping to have this flashlight to ensure that emergency supplies are ready in the event of a school-based emergency. Thank you for your time.
