Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very determined and hard-working but often lack the basic essentials and supplies. Most of them come from low-income homes and their parents struggle to contribute financially to their education. Not only can they not complete their work, students who lack supplies are often too embarrassed to ask for what they need and instead act out or tune out instead of participating in class.

Now more than ever, I need your help to meet my students’ needs so we can help level the playing field and ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn.

My Project

This year will bring with it a lot of new challenges and struggles for my students and their families. If you are able, please help me alleviate some of that burden by ensuring every student has the supplies they need to be successful. This year also brings with it the additional safety concern of sharing supplies. I am hoping to create individual supply ‘bundles’ for each student so as to minimize our contact and risk. That means that we will need even more supplies than usual. We will also need Covid-specific items such as individual sanitizers, touch-free classroom tools, and easy-to-clean holders.
