Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a small K-5 school filled with students who are wonderful to work with! They are a diverse group of students in terms of race, income, gender, and ability levels, all looking for a chance to be successful. I have students who work at high levels and love to be challenged, down to students who need that nudge.

Many of the students struggle with issues adults couldn't deal with, but still find a way to come to school and participate in the learning process.

We are a family of learners, myself included. Every day is a new day of learning, loving, and respecting each other. We are an awesome community working hard at being the best that we can be in this virtual learning environment!

My Project

Although the vaccine is available, it is not available for my 10-11 year old students yet. I need to make sure that they have a welcome, safe, learning environment.

Making sure they have their own earbuds, gluesticks, etc... is the first step in creating this safe, learning, environment.

While we are learning and working this school year, sharing supplies is not an option.

Providing flexible seating is important, and the stools, which can be wiped off easily with the Lysol wipes, makes it easy to do so. It gives my students a chance to move from their desks, safely.

We are returning to school in the face of a new "normal." I want to make sure my students are comfortable enough in it so that the only thing they have to worry about, is learning!
