Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a Title I School; we are located in a low income neighborhood. They are eager to learn but lack the necessary supplies. School starts in August, and parents struggle to purchase supplies or even uniforms.

Hurricane Harvey left us devastated and now we are on the road to recovery.

They come to school with hopes and dreams. I want to enhance their dreams by increasing their knowledge. Fifth grade is a crossroads for my students as they are on their way to middle school. My students enjoy working on workstations.

My Project

As the summer moves quickly, teachers begin to plan for August. We question "How are our students? How are the going to come back? I want to make sure my students have what they need. They need the basic necessities such as glue, pencils, erasers and Expo markers. Every year, pencils seem to fly out of the classroom. We use them daily and students seem to never have enough pencils. The glue is for our interactive Math journals. I give students notes to glue on to save time. I am looking forward to getting some Expo markers as we are going to use them daily in our Math block to do daily review of adding and rounding skills and strategies.
