My Project

I will be teaching 6th grade English to 4 classes during the upcoming school year. I know from prior years that I can expect to meet a new group of over 100 intelligent and diverse NYC students in September 2024.

I would like to start the year off strong with two new bookcases to organize our classroom library books so they are easily accessible to students.

Independent reading is a great habit to keep up in middle school, and these bookcases will allow me to better display books that I have available for students to borrow from the classroom library. This summer I have received many donations of great YA titles from my local neighbors, and I am in need of more shelf space to showcase them so readers will have access to see what books are available to be borrowed.

In addition to the bookcases, I am also requesting some tissues (a classroom essential that often runs short during the school year), and some new bulletin board backing and colored pens. These supplies would be very welcome additions to our ELA classroom, and would be enjoyed by this year's classes and many other students in years to come. Thank you for your consideration!
