Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish (English Language Learners). They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and are socioeconomically disadvantaged, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big. Nevertheless, my students are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!

Having an engaged classroom makes learning more fun for my students!

Many of my students have learning disabilities. I try to keep the classroom learner-friendly, which is difficult when most students were not in school due to COVID. Some subjects like math and reading will be difficult for them to get and using the materials provided will help.

My Project

Previously, when students came to school without supplies they could borrow what they needed from our shared community stash. With our current restrictions, that is no longer possible. I want to provide for students in need. They will be able to use their supplies like color pencils as well as highlighters to color-code their notes, passages, and math strategies to enhance their learning.

Using Kleenex hand towels will benefit my class because we moved classrooms where there is no sink.

Most of my students are on free lunch and don't always get new items for back-to-school. Upon returning from Learning online, they deserve to have a chance to start off with new supplies, given to them by a teacher who cares.
