Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in one of the lowest income/highest poverty schools in our district our students face many obstacles. My goal is for my students to walk away understanding that education is the key to success in life and for college readiness. By preparing our learners academically and giving them access to experiences they would not have access to otherwise. We are molding positive contributors to our school community and the community outside of our district.

This year I am teaching a diverse range of enthusiastic mathematicians.

I am fortunate to understand that all students have the capacity to be GREAT thinkers and I want to work with them to help them discover their own love for learning. When our students love to learn teaching becomes much more organic within the classroom.

My students love to work together and bring such life and joy into the classroom each and every day. They come eager to learn, work on group projects, learn new things and come with the skills needed to be successful. I need rich, engaging and supportive resources to push my students to their fullest potential.

My Project

For so long we have encouraged our students to create a community of sharing. We are entering into a new school year in the middle of a global pandemic, with so much uncertainty. We can no longer use communal supplies and keep our students safe. So what can make a difference? Individual supplies!

These materials will allow my students to each have individualized materials and supplies for the upcoming school year.

They will get pencils, highlights, erasers, dry erase markers, sharpeners and post-its. Headphones will be used both in school and at home to support the blended learning model for the upcoming year. All the essentials that they need to set them up for success safely!
