Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our New York City school is a Title 1 school made up of a majority low-income families. Our students are new immigrants to the United States who seek a better life. They work relentlessly both inside and outside the classroom to achieve their dreams and to create a better life for themselves.

Due to their financial circumstances, basic school supplies are oftentimes not affordable to our families and the back-to-school-basics take a backseat when families are struggling to meet NYC rent and to put food on the table to eat.

Come September, across the country, teachers are preparing their classrooms for the beginning of the school year. We are decorating billboards. We are organizing seating charts...filling drawers with scissors, pens, color pencils, sometimes bought from home because otherwise, the classroom would have none.

Please help us start the year off right with the basic tools we need to succeed. With your donation, we will create pencil pouches to gift our students. They will be filled with pencils, pens, sharpeners, erasers, sanitizer, and rulers for the students to enjoy this upcoming 2022-23 school year!
