Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My class enjoys multicultural foods. They always want to learn how to make different dishes and share what their favorite foods are. My class has a portable kitchen, and the students always want to try new menus. The students choose different roles daily from cleaning, chef prep, and cooks. One of the things that all students want to learn is to know how to cook. The air fryer, cooking utensils, and other items that I am requesting are items that can help all students cook no matter how easy or hard the menus could be. My school is a transitional school where the students are learning how to work at school. Then from there, they will use the tools and knowledge that they learned from school to everyday life.

I believe cooking is a universal survival language and my students are eager to express themselves and share it with others.

No matter the menus, I would like my students to learn the different ways we can cook a meal for them to be able to care for themselves in the future. What makes my students special and deserving of these items is the love they have for learning to care for themselves in a way that they thought was impossible for them to do. Seeing my students work together in making simple meals is amazing. My students in their free time share videos of meals they wish they could make and ask me to help them make it. My students would also like to share their "universal language" by cooking for events and sharing with other classes, maybe other schools what they can make on their own. Culinary Education for All is what my students want, and I would like to facilitate their wants and needs.
