My Project

I am a 2nd grade special education teacher in Brooklyn, NY. My school is an Early Childhood Center that ranges from Pre-K to Grade 2. We have a large population of English language learners. The staff at our school pride ourselves on creating a love of learning in young children so they may carry it with them throughout their lives.

The students in my class have been diagnosed with disabilities such as speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, and delays in motor skills.

They have several different learning styles and it is often a challenge to meet the specific needs of each and every child.

We have made it through a large part of the school year with most of our students learning in-person! Covid-19 has been hard on our community and we have been purchasing most of the classroom supplies that our students need.

With all of these in-person learners and getting this far through the school year, we are currently experiencing low supplies for some of the basic items we use daily in school.

I am writing this project in hopes of restocking our supply of copy paper, printer ink, and pencils. I bet you can imagine how many pencils our 8-year-olds go through and we use the ink and copy paper daily for various learning materials and communication with parents. Donations to this project will allow us to continue the exciting work we have been doing throughout the end of the school year.
