Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm being asked to describe what I love about my students and what makes them special, and as cliché, as it sounds, that's difficult to put into words. My children think critically about the world and care deeply for one another. They are intelligent, ambitious, free-thinking individuals. They love one another and support each other's growth, despite the differences and obstacles we face throughout the school year. Each year is another opportunity to construct another beautiful family and each year that is what the children do.

My students deserve the best education, a loving community, and most of all, tools to make them successful.

However, I work in a Title I school in the Bronx that already receives minimal funding. Many of my children live in temporary housing and below the poverty line, and materials are scarce. DonorsChoose.org is an opportunity to level the playing field for them and provide them with the resources to empower themselves and each other. This empowerment leads to children who care about their learning, their achievements, and their future. Please help me provide a platform for their success.

My Project

This past year, we exhausted our resources to help continue learning through the pandemic. The supplies in this order will give my kids the basics they need in the classroom. Paper, pencils, tape, markers, etc. will help children feel that they've returned to an environment that fosters learning and discovery.

When children have their own set of materials, they take ownership of their learning.

These items help students to learn independently and reinforce important skills. They also help me as the teacher implement strong lessons. Overall, these will help improve student achievement.
