My Students

My students are joyful, rambunctious, high energy and full of life. They all have big dreams-to be lawyers, basketball players, college graduates, astronomers, and more.

I teach a self-contained, special education class in Baltimore, at a Title I school where one hundred percent of students receive free lunch.

They are all unique in their personalities and learning styles, and demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. In my classroom, they learn critical academic, behavioral, and life skills. I want to give them all the tools they need to be successful and accomplish their goals.

My Project

All students should have access to basic school materials that are necessary to be successful in school. In elementary school, we can never have enough tissues for runny noses. We run through pencils at an unbelievable pace, and can never find an eraser when we need one. We need snacks to make it through the day without getting distracted by hunger, especially for our students who may be dealing with food insecurity at home.

My classroom needs basic materials so they can focus on learning.

Students should not be worried about finding pencils or a tissue. With the supplies from these projects, we can put all our energy towards what is truly important.
