This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and enjoy expressing themselves whenever they are given the chance. Our classroom does not have an art period, and I try to input art into as many lessons as possible. However, not all students have the basic supplies needed to do this consistently.

My 5th grade class is 96% low income in a Title I public elementary school.

We are a high needs school in a high needs community trying to make do with the few resources that we have. In my class, I have 31, high energy students that are eager to learn. They participate actively and are always asking questions about the world around them.

My Project

"Can I borrow your scissors?" "He won't let me use the crayons." "I can't do the project because I am waiting for the glue." I hear these statements at the start of every class project. My students deserve to have basic school supplies readily available to them, which is not always the case in my school. Waiting to take turns with scissors or glue distracts from the project objectives and takes valuable class time away from the lessons. My students need the basic school supplies like crayons, scissors, scissor caddy, tape, pocket chart, stapler, book rings, and glue as well as other items that make the classroom run.

My students will be able to use these basic school supplies to tap into their creative side.

A classroom without art is dull. With crayons, glue, and scissors, my students will be ale to make their workspace more colorful and personal. Please help my students obtain the basic supplies that they deserve.
