Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We need school supplies. The school supplies that my students purchase each year or that are provided for them by charitable organizations go to their respective homerooms. In music, we need basic classroom supplies for use when marking our music or during literacy and composition development.

My students are eager and excited learners.

With a low-socio economic rate of approximately 96% the families of my students are doing quite well when they can afford basic school supplies. The majority of my students receive their basic school supplies from community charitable organizations. Our music classroom is a special place where students can express themselves and create. When you help us provide school supplies for the music classroom, my students will be able to take their learning with them to show their parents.

My Project

My students need basic consumable school supplies such as markers and highlighters and pencils, for the music room. My students will use the Wikki Stix to mark and annotate music that we are looking at together. Highlighters and crayons will be used to mark music that we will play together. The pencils will be used for written responses to music and music composition. Eraser caps will prolong the life of each pencil. The pink erasers will be shared and used to correct compositions. Our clothes-line and staples will be used to help display student work. Glue will be used when we need it to create a visual representation of a piece of music we are hearing. The pencil bags will be used to organize the supplies in sets for easy distribution. The folders will be used for students to organize and create their music notes and personal compositions.

This project is important to my students because they need the ability to formalize and track their experiences in music.

Musical experiences are difficult to capture. Providing the means to respond in writing or to write a composition will give them tangible evidence of their creativity and musical skill.
