My Project

I am a PAES Lab special education teacher. PAES stands for: Practical Assessment Exploration System. In my classroom, I teach special education students daily living skills, how to be independent to promote self care and level one job skills.

My goal is to continue to use our data-driven hands-on program to support our students skills acquisition to determine their aptitude for pre-employment by learning to cook, complete office related work and processing jobs.

With your support, we can use a variety of materials to continue to set up new jobs and and assign tasks within our classroom. Students learn everyday cooking skills, wood-shop, computer science related jobs and processing tasks to promote and showcase a variety of career related experiences. With your support, we can promote additional skills and assign more tasks to help our students to become more independent and be able to self care with limited support.

With the requested items such as printer ink, pancake mix, pudding mix and wood shop aprons, students will be able to unlock an array of job related skills. Students can benefit from safety glasses to practice workplace safety skills. My students can learn how to prepare simple meals for breakfast and lunch and learn how to prepare snacks. Essential cooking skills can foster love for food and lead to consumer service jobs. Items can be used for students to print their assignments when conducting simulated office work, learn how to prepare simple meals which can lead to entry level service and short order cook careers and discover everyday skills to manage a household in the future by learning wood shop and how to build box ready furniture. Our goal is to create simulated workday and an independent living environment, where students can learn how to self care with support.
