Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are learning about Aztec mythology, specifically the god Tezcatlipoca, who has a mirror for a foot. Students are learning about the symbolism of self-reflection, self-care, and how it relates to Mexican history and mythology.

Through this art project, students will enhance their social emotional learning with language from the cultural art form of Aztec dance.

Students will connect the meaning of the dances we have learned with strategies for self-care. They will be able to take the finished art product home to share with their families. My students will be able to connect with their own family histories.
