This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I’m teaching students in a Behavior Intervention Class with mild/moderate disabilities. You wouldn’t know it by stepping into my classroom. They are all so well behaved and so kind. Most of my students qualify for special education under the label Emotionally Disturbed, but somehow come to school with a big smile on their faces every day. They have had a different teacher and staff almost every year and have found it difficult to trust that anyone is staying. Well, I’m here to stay and I am excited to be their teacher!

My Project

This Oculus will make our virtual field trips really special. Our kids will be blown away at how vivid the images look and it will give them such a wonderful virtual experience. These materials will allow my students to do virtual field trips to Ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. My students will have the opportunity to be a gladiator in the Colosseum. They will get to travel around the Egyptian pyramids. My students will get to see the Acropolis up close and feel like they are actually there. And we will also have to see what it’s like to be on a roller coaster in VR.
