Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello! I teach Pre-K. Many of my wonderful Pre-K students come from very low-income homes. Many of the parents are unable to provide their children with several of the necessary supplies. Due to the low-income status of several of the parents, I buy the children pencils, treats, and stickers to aid and encourage them in their learning. In addition to this being my first full year teaching Pre-K, my eager-to-learn students would greatly benefit from a variety of materials to further their learning, expose them to engaging and new materials, and ultimately enhance their love for school.

My students are caring, witty, and creative, and I want to continue enhancing these terrific attributes by providing them with the best resources.

Thanks you!

My Project

The art materials I have selected will positively impact my students' life both in, and outside of the classroom. My wonderful students are very creative and enjoy learning and expressing themselves through art. However, many of the children in my class are from low-income families, and are unable to purchase most of the items needed for basic art projects. Their projects will be an extension of weekly lessons, and once completed, they can share those special creations with their family.

The zebra print paper I chose will be used to carry out a jungle-themed letter and word wall.

In addition, children will use this and other art materials, such as googly eyes, pom poms and feathers to create their own artistic works every week. In addition to the educational art activities, the dinosaur figurines will help expand students' counting skills as well as be a hands-on approach to learning about these amazing creatures during a variety of Science lessons. I will put all the materials to good use, and I am confident my children will enjoy using these throughout the school year.
