My Students

I have a wonderful group of students who are hard working and deserving of recognition. I always praise my students' work and effort, but I would also like to give them awards, certificates and incentives. I hope that with these added incentives they will be further motivated to do excellent work.

My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance.

Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. My students' parents want the best education possible for them but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have books, puzzles and other educational toys at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager and bright kids with a wide variety of learning tools. We are a Title 1 school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantage, but not enough to provide every classroom with all the "extras" that they need. In fact due to all the budget cuts, we are running very low on essential supplies such as pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and even multipurpose paper. Any awards, certificates and incentives must come from teachers' pockets.

My Project

I hope to continue to motivate my students to do good work and have good citizenship by having different awards, certificates and incentives for them. I would like to give my students pencils for receiving 100% on tests. I would also like to encourage good behavior by giving my students 'Caught Being Good stickers'. To encourage my students to read more and to bring homework, I would like to use incentive charts. Once these incentive charts are filled, my students can get prizes such as notepads and pencils from our prize box.

I hope that having these awards and incentives will foster a classroom environment where students will strive to always do their best and be the best.
