My Project

In my AVID class in San Jose, CA, I strive to create a space where students feel supported both academically and emotionally. To enhance our learning environment, I am seeking whiteboard materials for our weekly tutorials and engaging games for our Fun Friday activities to foster social-emotional learning. We are also requesting some snacks to keep on hand to make sure students aren't going hungry while at school!

During our weekly AVID tutorials, students collaborate in small groups with the assistance of tutors to tackle challenging coursework.

Whiteboards and markers are essential tools that allow my students to visually break down complex concepts, brainstorm ideas, and work together to find solutions. By providing each group with quality whiteboard materials, my students will be better equipped to engage actively in these learning sessions, improving their critical thinking and communication skills.

In addition to academic support, Fun Friday activities are an important part of my class. Classic games like Jenga, Scrabble, and checkers provide students with a chance to unwind, build connections with their peers, and strengthen essential social-emotional skills such as teamwork, resilience, and conflict resolution. By incorporating games that promote collaboration and strategy, I can create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and connected.
