My Project

We are following Wendy Ewald and Lynda Barry’s framework of teaching literacy skills through art. Our students have a range of abilities including using their communication devices and their preferred modes of communication whether it be sign language, verbal or gestures and pointing. The students have various literacy skill levels beginning with emerging skills.

Students create art journals in class and these supplies will allow them to engage in literacy skill building and improving their self expression.

They learn about what others are doing to create book projects and junk journals. Then make their own autobiographical comics, black books and art journals.
