My Students

My students have autism. They are learning reading, writing, math, science, and history. Due to their disability, they can pay attention and focus better when they know what they are working for. My students earn points during the day towards rewards. The iPad would be extremely rewarding.

My students are fifth graders.

There are six students in our class, 5 boys and 1 girl. Two boys are non verbal and use communication devices to talk. They all love reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. My girl loves horses and Disney Princesses. Two of my students love to draw and create amazing pictures. One student likes mine craft. One student loves Star Wars and legos. The other boy likes dinosaurs. Our classroom is in a school with general ed and special ed classes. We are included in all school events.

My Project

The iPad will be used in many different ways according to my students individual preferences and needs. They will earn the iPad which I will fill with apps and things that interest them. It will be used for instruction as well. We will also use it as a resource tool to look up information. They have goals to research information and create projects. This iPad will enable them to do that. It can also be used to read books and I can download the "book of the week" that they can take turns reading on it. They will use the iPad to improve their math skills by going on sites such as Math XL, Brainpop, and more. They will use the camera to take pictures to create books about different topics. They will use the video component to create tutorials so they can teach each other how to do things that they can do, which will improve their self esteem, and is also something children their age are interested in. There are so many ways that this iPad will be used in my class.

The donation of this iPad will help improve the moral of my students and the atmosphere of our classroom.

It will be beneficial to improving their social skills, reading, math abilities, writing abilities, attention span, confidence, self esteem and so much more. The potential of this iPad is unlimited! Just like my students!! Thank you!!!
