My Students

Imagine hearing a noise and losing all ability to focus. This is true for many of the students in my classroom with Autism. Another student working on the computer, completing math problems on the board, or even just quietly reading a book can cause many of my students to lose all concentration.

The students in my classroom are part of a special education program.

This program concentrates on helping students with intensive communication deficits. The majority of students in my classroom have severe Autism. These students have a wide variety of needs including functional communication, life skills, as well as academic skills. With the proper supports these students are able to make great strides.

My Project

This very SIMPLE room divider is going to mean the world of good for some of my students. Having this divider will allow me to block out external distractions that may occur in the classroom. To the average person these "distractions" may seem very minute, but for a student with Autism it can cause them to unravel and loose all focus. These dividers are great because the can easily slide around the room and block out distractions to keep the kids focused!

Having this piece of furniture will allow my students to make some great gains.

These students are fully capable of learning and becoming independent adults. With your help these students know no end! Thank you so so much :)
