My Project

The students in our school range in age from five to ten years old and are all fabulous! They receive special instruction in small classrooms along with related services throughout the school day, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, and counseling. We are not on the ground floor and aside from recess and occasional trips, we don’t have many opportunities to explore the outdoors, much less gardens.

We currently do not have a school garden and I want that to change!

I want to start mini classroom gardens! I want the students to see the day-to-day changes that occur when plants start and continue to grow. I want to expose them to different ways of growing plants using Chia Pets, terrariums, and hydroponics! I want them to use their senses to experience the wonderful benefits of a garden. I also want them to have access to toys to explore the parts of plant. Let’s garden together!
