My Students

Our school is located in a large metropolitan area, and my students represent countries from all over the world.

My students are autistic and range in age from 5 to 10 years old, and for the past several months they have been receiving at home tele-therapy services as a part of their distance learning.

They typically receive special instruction in small classrooms, along with related services throughout the school day, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech.

As an occupational therapist, I try to make our sessions fun and interactive, using things I make myself, find around the house or online. It's been challenging at times to keep my students' attention during our sessions, but I've managed to do so and get them participating at home. Currently I have been using materials such as puppets, dry-erase boards, magnetic pictures, letters, and numbers, worksheets (color, cut paste), and a variety of arts and crafts during our sessions.

My Project

My students will have a chance to see themselves, their families, friends, and community workers represented all around them as they participate in tele-therapy sessions.

These child-friendly multicultural resources will encourage exploration and learning through the use of puppets, art supplies, flash cards, and multilingual photo card libraries that represent the various ethnicities within our vast and diverse city.

My students deserve to learn about their diverse world and to have a chance to explore other cultures in an effort to embrace inclusion and equity. My hope is to celebrate our diversity within the school community, creating a safe space to be as inclusive as possible for everyone.

Please make this a reality for my students!
