My Students
My students are autistic and range in age from five to ten years old. They receive special instruction in small classrooms (6:1:1), along with related services throughout the school day, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and counseling.
My students have delays in gross/fine motor coordination, and spatial/visual problem solving, which can affect their performance with academic tasks (using classroom tools and materials), activities of daily living (dressing, feeding, hygiene), and participation in physical education and play activities.
Many of them have difficulty attending for extended periods of time and many demonstrate sensory-seeking behaviors.
My Project
One of the concerns that has come up during distance learning has been the need for my students to work on ADLs (activities of daily living), which includes dressing, hygiene, and feeding.
My students need help with ADLs (activities of daily living) at home!
It is important to work on the underlying issues that hinder a child from mastering a skill. Many of my students need to work on improving their fine motor coordination. These resources will help to address the physical needs of my students in a practical way!
More than half of students from low‑income households
