There are 30 third grade students that will be entering my classroom in September for the first time. These students will be experiencing a new teacher, new classroom and new curriculum quickly. These students need support in order to be successful in their new grade, and new classroom.
These students come from all different backgrounds and all different abilities.
They need new supplies and resources to share as they work together to build a diverse community of acceptance and friendship.
My Project
Third grade is when true writer's start to develop. Writer's workshops start to take place, and students engage in the writing process. This is a huge stepping stone for third grader's. They need resources in order to be successful. The materials my students need are pencils and binders. These materials will help my students to be successful with their writing. The binders will help them to be able to use the writing process as a tool and think like true authors. It will allow them to keep their work need and organized, as well as look back at, and reflect on their accomplishments thoughout the year. The pencils will provide students will a way to write down their thoughts and ideas.
William Faulkner once said "If a story is in you, it has got to come out".
This describes the ideas and creativity my new students have and will use towards their writing. They will use these materials in order to preserve al of their hard work. I can't wait to see what my students are able to produce throughout the year!
