My Project

As 18-21 year-olds, my students are building and exploring a relationship with music they will use their whole lives. They are encouraged to engage in music authentically, and that means they need tools to help them engage in many different ways. Just like many adults in music-based settings, my students enjoy watching, listening, dancing, playing instruments, talking, and/or singing when they have opportunities to interact within and about music.

Some of my students find traditional instruments a bit overstimulating and need low-noise, sensory-rich instrument options for music engagement.

Vinyl blocks and heavily-weighted bean bags aren't objects folks typically think of for music making; however, they make great drums, movement props, visuals for vocal exercises, and sensory integration/ co-regulation tools in music therapy sessions. A jellyfish sensory light will provide a rich sensory experience for music relaxation experiences.
