This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching kindergarten has to be the most interesting, exciting, and rewarding job in the world. My students are so bright and fun this year! We have many challenges and obstacles to face just as each classroom does. Despite these conditions, I hold high expectations for all of my students.

I teach kindergarten at a Title 1 school where most of my students receive free or reduced lunch.

I have a diverse group of students coming from many different backgrounds with very different learning needs. With proration at hand, budget cuts, and the possibility of no extra funds this year for supplies, teachers will be spending a lot of their own money to have proper materials. It would be so exciting to receive a classroom set of chair covers. These would allow the materials we use the most in kindergarten to be right at our fingertips without ever leaving our seats.

My Project

Kindergarten is the first school experience most children have. Most students we have at my school do not attend pre-school. Not only do we have to teach our students how to read, mathematics skills, social studies, and science, but we have to prepare them for life by teaching them to be responsible and organized. Chair covers would serve a great deal in helping me teaching my students to be organized and prepared. The chair covers I am requesting will keep journals, white boards, crayons, scissors, glue, etc. close by. Students need to see the importance of being prepared and organized. This will only help them be better students and better citizens. A lot of time now we spend getting up to get our materials, sitting back down, only to realize that we forgot something else we need. This cuts back on instructional time. Precious time is wasted gathering materials from around the room instead of being able to reach right behind us and get what we need.

This is where you can help!

We are requesting a chair cover for each child in our classroom. I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read our proposal. Our classroom has been very blessed through donors choose and it is because of people like you. My students are better served through this wonderful organization. I hope after reading our proposal, you are inspired to be a part of all the success our students are gaining.
