The students that I see each day in my three fifth grade classrooms come from a very small, rural farming town. More than fifty percent of our four hundred students are on our free or reduced-price lunch program. We have students from all types of homes from diverse backgrounds.
My students never cease to amaze me with what they can and have overcome.
They are sweet, beautiful souls who deserve my very best, and that is what I strive to give them each and every day.
My Project
Many of our fifth grade students are what we would call 'reluctant readers'. It is our goal in the fifth grade to help every child find their love for reading. This is no easy task.
Augmented Reality books will make our job so much easier by combining students' love for technology with reading and giving even the most reluctant reader a good experience with books.
Students will then be able to use the action camera to create video book talks.
These books come to life as pictures seem to jump off the paper through the use of a tablet. The 3-D pictures grab students' attention and keep them wanting more. Through the use of Augmented Reality books, our students will learn to love reading!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
