This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This iPad will make a difference in non-speaking students learning because it will allow them to have access to communication, the curriculum, and the ability to engage in social conversations with peers. A variety of communication applications (LAMP WFL, TouchChat, Coughdrop, etc.) will be put on the iPad.

My goal is to support my non-speaking students speech and language development by using Augmentative and Alternative communication (AAC).

This iPad will allow me to expose the students to a variety of communication applications to determine what application best fits their needs. After exposure to different communication applications, they will be able to receive an individualized communication device.

Our school's goal is to foster a multi-sensory educational experience and environment for our students, taking into account their diverse needs, interests, abilities, and access. Our students are special because they are among the most vulnerable populations in the Bronx, NY. They are District 75 students, a special education district in NYC to promotes positive self-awareness and provides social-emotional support among students to develop academic, communication, and life skills to maximize individual student growth and independence. As a District 75 teacher, we deliver high-quality education for our students to become socially responsive lifelong learners and active participants in their communities.
