I love when my students love learning and their willingness to attempt the learning process when given the appropriate opportunities to function just like their non-disabled peers in any given situation to the best of their ability.
Given the right materials to work with my students take joy in learning because they can do what is expected of them without hesitation, mental or emotional resistance.
Having the right material to aid learning and supplement learning also helps my students learn how to do things for themselves without having someone always there to help them. This builds confidence and self-esteem.
Students are not always able to go on field trips that help them learn outside the classroom; and so having the DVD player and a cassette player will allow a lot of materials that are on DVD and/or CD, or cassette to be played in the classroom individually, as a group or with a partner to learn about persons, places, or things and reinforce learning in the classroom. It allows you to bring digital documentaries and educational broadcasts into the classroom. Or perhaps a learning center where one or two students can go at a time to learn at their pace.
