My Students

The greatest gift is a passion for reading. In my classroom, some student have not found the right book or series to spark that passion. I would love to introduce my students to books that could start their love of reading.

The students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

The students come to me each year with a very broad range of prior knowledge. Some students love and enjoy learning, while some do not have any interest in education. I feel like it is my job to reach all of these students and tap into their learning styles to help them enjoy their education.

My Project

Each day, all of the students in the classroom participate in reading stations. These stations include activities to enrich the children and provide different types of learning experiences. One of the stations I would love to incorporate is a listening station. During this station, students would be able to not only read the story, but listen to it. This is so important for the students who are auditory learners. The students would be able to discuss their story with their group and also show their auditory comprehension with a variety of activities. Not to mention, hearing other fluent readers helps struggling students with their pace, expression, and accuracy.

With this listening station, my students would gain a better understanding of reading fluency and comprehension.

It would provide them with an entertaining way to read with a group and discuss a story, character, plot, and more. By listening to entertaining stories, a spark for reading could be ignited for my students which would help them be successful in their future.
