This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Working in a Title I middle school in South Georgia is very rewarding for me as a first year teacher. I get to lead, challenge, and motivate our future leaders in grades 6-8 in resource math.
While this age and subject are sometimes challenging for our middle school students, the family atmosphere that we have in our schoolhouse makes for an engaging and productive learning environment for ALL stakeholders.
In addition to teaching our 6th-8th grade students math, I also have the opportunity to coach soccer to an enthusiastic group of young women. Seeing our student-athletes perform to their best ability in and out of the classroom is a rewarding experience that I will forever cherish.
My Project
A barrier that exists in our Title I South Georgia middle school with our student-athletes interested in playing sports is the fact that many do not have the means to provide the basic attire to participate.
As middle school soccer coaches, we want to remove this barrier in order to encourage more students to participate than ever before.
We all know the benefits of participating in extracurricular activities, so we want to explore all resources necessary to make sure the needs of our student-athletes are met.
This project will afford our middle school soccer teams with t-shirts that they will wear during middle school soccer practices and as undershirts during games.
Thank you for your assistance with these efforts to provide our middle school soccer student-athletes with the necessary t-shirts to perform to their best ability during after-school soccer activities. Thank you!
