Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This scrolling LED display board is a prime tool for our mathematical mission. We are a departmentalized 6th grade. There are 3 sections of math that we work with everyday. The display would be used to show our data. Each week, the students make growth and achieve benchmarks in ST Math (conceptual math program). The sign would be ideal to showcase this achievement. Data from common core differentiated assignments, results from weekly cross-curricular writing assignments, outcomes of multi-step MCAS based questions, and so much more would be displayed in an engaging, high-status manner. The sign would be used for displaying assignments in conjunction with our agendas. The sign could communicate innumerable things for and from students. Student birthdays and announcements would be displayed. Our students are the leaders of our school. The students would be able to run the sign for the school to see, and that is such a great motivator! They are old enough, responsible and excel when given a seat at the controls of their Math Class!

Mathematical engagement is key to student success.

The content becomes dramatically more difficult. The language component is huge at this level. We know students have the ability... we know it. This tool would help us keep students engaged and motivated in the class! It is their class, day and education! We want them to love being a part of all 3!
