The students at our high school come from all over a large city in Pennsylvania and are vibrant, diverse and passionate. Some students travel over 2 hours on public transportation just to attend our school!
As the only urban high school in the country completely dedicated to agriculture, we are extremely unique.
Our students work many hours on our farm, with our animals, and landscaping our school grounds as part of their curriculum. Their dedication to our school and this field make them very special.
In my PE class, every single student participates. We do much more than the traditional sports units in our class, and students often find they excel in activities they didn't even know existed. My ultimate goal is for my students to understand the lifelong benefits of wellness and find an activity they enjoy enough to help them achieve this goal.
Our athletic teams have a rich history in participation, sportsmanship and dedication. As a medium sized school, we are lucky to run a no-cut program, where students who are interested, dedicated, and adhere to the standards set out for our program are able to compete on a high school athletic team.
Students will be staring at screens for many hours this Fall. My students will be able to use the stability ball as their chair to help with posture and engage their core while participating in virtual learning. Additionally, we will use the ball in several ways during our virtual PE class.
These items will allow my students to continue to improve their fitness while at home and mostly sedentary.
The jump ropes and resistance bands will be used in during our virtual workouts in both teacher created workouts and students created workouts.
Of all subjects, physical education is extremely difficult to do in a virtual setting because we use so much equipment throughout the year and we move so much. These three items will help my students to get the exercise they so very need while at home.
