My Students

Our students are diagnosed with Autism and in need of supplies to learn functional life skills that help them to become more independent in their everyday lives. These supplies will are for our students who have severe and profound developmental disabilities and who are diagnosed with Autism. Our students with Autism in particular, need to become proficient in topics related to cleaning, clerical tasks, landscaping and gardening, property maintenance, food preparation and self-care skills. Many of our students are non-verbal and come here to learn formal methods of communication through sign language, picture symbols and voice output devices. Our students range in age from 14 – 21.

My Project

My students will be working remotely for a period of time. Our special education students will continue to work on their at home gardens by increasing their growing potential as well as the continuation of developing their ADL skills. We will work on cleaning up after ourselves, washing dishes, hanging up clothes, folding laundry and maintaining our at home gardens. We are working with students to create a diverse and rich experience with hands on materials. Students will work with the teacher and families to develop the skills necessary to become proficient in self-care skills. Lessons will be delivered in real time with demonstration for all students.
