Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My are from a low-income neighborhood in Houston's East End area, attend a Title 1, Part A school and are also enrolled in the Dual Language Program. They work very hard to accomplish their yearly goals. As their teacher I do my best by providing them with differentiated instruction, with materials provided, to target their individual needs. Although this year will be a different start to our Kindergarten year, I know that this won't stop them to be engaged in our virtual activities.

My Project

After engaging in whole group teaching a key component for teachers is small group instruction and independent practice. This school year I would like to continue incorporating these strategies by providing my students with individualized at home bags that will include center theme activities that I plan on purchasing on Teachers pay Teachers. These items will include; number cards, letter and sound matching cards, mini posters, name practice activities and other various activities for them to practice mastering their objectives.

By providing my students with the materials, I would be able to determine how efficient my teaching is being and how I could continue to improve based on their needs and understanding.

In our classroom, students enjoy going to centers and practice the objectives. These items in their individualized bags will be able to be used in many of our activities and in different subjects.
