This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students greatly enjoy the sport of soccer. Many of the athletes that I have are just learning the sport or picking up the sport in order to form closer bonds with their father or brother. Our soccer team is mainly Hispanic but we are becoming more diverse every year. Many of our student athletes come from low economic households. However the students are very rich in spirit. Hurricane Harvey hit our community pretty hard and we are slowly getting through it together.

With soccer season around the corner I really want the girls to just enjoy the sport and not worry about having enough equipment for everyone.

Our school has done an amazing job of helping the community get past the hurricane and I would like to continue this trend going in to the soccer season. As a girls soccer program we don't have much to offer them in terms of equipment and supplies but there is so much potential for us. With the proper help we can make a serious impact in the girls lives and in the standings.

My Project

These soccer balls, goal, sticks, flags and other soccer supplies, will greatly help the girls soccer team be successful. We have a good group of girls that are really looking forward to learning more about the sport and improving their skills. With these materials we will be able to implement a wide variety of drills. Currently we have a very limited amount of supplies. With more equipment we will be able to break up in to stations and make sure that the girls are participating in a wide variety of areas. More equipment will also lead to more individual attention, helping them address certain problems suggesting ways to improve.

After Hurricane Harvey, the school's soccer program will serve as a much needed distraction for the girls.

I want to make sure the girls are having fun playing the sport and that can only happen if we have adequate equipment. Athletics is just like a classroom if you don't have the proper supplies you wont be very successful. With this equipment we will be able to compete and show the opposing schools that we have up and coming talent.
