it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My basketball teams are made up of students in grades 6, 7, and 8. They are dedicated, hard working student athletes who are looking to succeed both in the classroom and on the court.
For many of these young scholars and athletes, this is the only organized sport they are a member of.
We are in a title 1 school district so it's difficult to get items for the team without doing fundraising because the funding priority of the school generally goes to academics. These players and coaches see it as a family and we treat each other as such. The boys work very hard to be successful, and are dedicated to the program both as players, and as student athletes. My Project
The players on my basketball team have few opportunities to participate in organized sports. My middle school team has given them this opportunity. Due to budget constraints in our Title I school, most money is directed towards academics, meaning they are not given the ability to experience real basketball workouts.
The materials requested in this project will help my players become better at the game of basketball, and experience workouts just like the pros!
Being able to provide them with reversible jerseys in practice to train, and to use a full size whiteboard to diagram and teach new concepts will help them to feel like a true basketball player, and prepare them or playing at the next level!
