My Project

I need scissors, colored pencils, markers, and a colored pencil sharpener to help my students interact with our learning in a more tactile way. When it's time to create projects in class or even accomplish some daily classwork that leans toward the artistic, these supplies will help all students participate in the learning. In class we often assess our current understanding of a lesson, summarize newly learned information, or collect and display our prior knowledge of a topic by making posters to display on the walls. These posters are available as a constant visual for students to recall and build on previously reviewed information so we can continue to dive deeper into a novel or concept of language/writing. Markers and colored pencils will help students create these visuals. We also regularly use colored pencils for annotating a variety of texts. Many students’ own colored pencils have broken or been destroyed by the pencil sharpener in my room because it is only meant for regular pencils. A specific colored pencil sharpener is needed so students’ materials and the classroom set of colored pencils are not destroyed.

Most students learn best when they engage in hands-on and meaningful projects to take their learning to the next level.

However, many students struggle to get access to some of these more artistic school supplies. By maintaining a collection of these supplies in my classroom, students in need will remain active participants in the classroom.
