Help Ms. Brown

I teach Pre-K in a high-need community. My school is an urban city school with many minority students and English language learners.

My students would love to have materials for an art learning center that would be used each school day. In this center they will be able to express themselves through art, develop fine motor skills, and experiment through different types of art media. Right now we only have paper and crayons, but we would like to expand our resources to include paint, stamp pads, ink, glitter and some craft items.

For this art enrichment project, my students specifically need a set of glitter, pipe stems, two sizes of colored craft sticks, wiggly eyes, tempura painters, easy-punch design shapes, a washable water color set, number stampers, shapes stampers, washable ink pads, a letters-numbers-and-shapes stencil set, and a classroom carry-all for crayons. As you know, the benefits of art in the classroom are many. For example, art stimulates the brain, develops hand and eye coordination, provides self-expression, teaches kids to think creatively to solve problems, and promotes self-esteem.

With your help and generous spirit, we can meet these students' needs. New art materials will enrich our classroom and allow this year's students and many more to experience art in new and exciting ways.
