My Students

Worrying about food, money, transportation, and clothing are adult worries, yet many of the students at my school face these "grown-up" problems each day. In spite of the challenges they face, my students constantly rise to the occasion and frequently blow me away with their ability to learn.

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Some have and some do not. It is my job to level the playing field so that all have a chance to be successful. Through hands-on, exciting and active assessment, all students in my second grade, inner-city classroom prove themselves time and time again.

My Project

In June, I will be facilitating an amazing arts experience for my students titled "Artsploration". Students will be integrating science and the arts through collaborative, creative, critical thinking arts infused projects. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of art mediums such as sculpting, puppetry, painting, and music while learning about the science themes. I am requesting art supplies such as ink, water color paint, glue, markers, and colored pencils, foam boards, rolling pins, "twistees", Sharpies and other materials to create an engaged learning environment for my students. Students will work collaboratively on projects, building on higher order thinking skills such as problem-solving and making real world connections. All artwork will be displayed for the community at the end of our week of "Artsploration"!
