My Students

A typical day in our pre-k class includes high-fives, hugs, and getting messy! Each day during center time, my students approach me with excitement of what they sculpted out of Play-doh or what they painted on the easel. My students enjoy projects that are hands on or sensory based.

We are an expanding full day Universal Pre-k with 12 students.

Like many 4 year old's, my students are energetic, love music, and enjoy having opportunities to be creative. Our school serves children from many different socioeconomic, and environmental walks of life. We provide a supportive and positive atmosphere that strives to meet the diverse needs of all our students.

My Project

One essential part of early childhood education is providing access to art materials. We will use these materials to help supply our classroom art center. My students will use paper to write, draw or paint. Paper and Play-doh will also be used to help develop fine motor, pre-writing and pre-literacy skills. For example, we often use Play-doh to shape numbers, letters or identify colors. We will also use glue to conduct science experiments such as making gak. We will use the materials to create projects for thematic based units such as winter or transportation.

These donations will greatly improve our classroom because having access to paper, Play-doh and other art materials is not only fun but encourages students make connections in their learning.

Having these materials will help change students' lives because they have opportunities to be creative, build confidence, and express who they are in their own way. We hope to make this early school experience memorable, fun, and enhance students' future development.
