Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are four years old. For many, this is their first time in school. They are primarily English language learners. They are excited and love learning.

Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.

My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues lacks many materials necessary in order to run rich classroom environments. Often we are limited due to a lack of resources.

My Project

This year I began working in a new classroom and noticed that some of the older furniture was broken. In particular is an art shelf that is missing many dividers and cannot be used to store paper or supplies properly. This is common in the public school system where rooms are switched often and things are not always taken care of or replaced when needed.

My students need an area where they can access art supplies independently and with ease.

We would love a new shelf that has dividers for different types of paper and room to keep a variety of craft materials. Since art is such a meaningful thing for children I want them to have a variety of resources at hand and the freedom to use what they want.

Preschool classrooms run best when the room is set up to make things easier for young learners. This is only accomplished through room design and by having the appropriate furniture and supplies. Please help us upgrade our room and our art center.
