This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Wanted! Creative and Artistic Minds. I teach 6th grade in a high-need community. The students are always trying to overcome obstacles in their life in order to achieve. They realize the importance of an education and what that will mean to them in the future.
Our school has no art teacher and no art supplies. Therefore, my students have never been exposed to anything in this area. My students have always asked if we could do art, but unfortunately due to the lack of any supplies I have not been able to set aside an art period. I have always requested the students to bring in art supplies, but due to the lack of funds, they have not been able to provide any.
I would love to share the love of art and creativity with my student. I know that I have many students with the untouched talent of being artistic that would greatly benefit from these supplies. Also, I would love to have my students realize that you don't have to be artistically talented in order to be creative.
By providing my students with these materials, it will help to ensure that my students have been given the opportunity to develop and grow in the field of art. Every child should have this chance to participate in art lessons.
